Ultrasonic Firearm Cleaning

What is ultrasonic cleaning?

  • Ultrasonic cleaning uses ultrasonic energy (sound waves) to create cavitation which are microscopic liquid bubbles induced by high frequency pressure waves to create tiny water jets that result in agitating the liquid and “exploding” off the contaminants.

  • The power of the agitation cleans contaminants sticking to the surface of gun parts.

  • The ultrasonic cleaning action penetrates guns holes, cracks, and recesses to clean a simple field stripped firearm far greater and in a drastically reduced time than it takes to detail strip and clean a gun by hand.

  • The purpose of an ultrasonic gun cleaner is to thoroughly clean all traces of contamination stubbornly adhering onto solid surfaces of a firearm. This type of cleaning goes beyond a regular field strip cleaning that you would do on your own.

What happens after my weapon is cleaned?

  • The weapon will then be dried and prepared for the next step.

  • After drying, the weapon goes through another ultrasonic process, this time completely submerged in a gun lubricant which penetrates every pore in the weapon.

  • This true ultrasonic gun lubricant will specifically displace trapped water or moisture and leave the gun parts coated with a light protective preservative.

  • The lubricant is a Prop 65 Compliant moisture displacing gun parts metal protectant.

  • Ultrasonic lubrication is a required part of the gun cleaning process that uses the tanks ultrasonic energy and leaves a light protective shield on the gun parts.

  • Once the weapon is wiped of excess lubricant, a heavier, performance lubricant will be placed in high friction points for added wear protection.

Is it safe on my weapon?

  • Ultrasonic cleaning is safe for all gun metals, plastics, polymers, and finishes.

  • However, if you have a finish (including Cerakote, hydro-dip, vinyl, etc.) with chips or cracks, there is a possibility that this could cause the chips and cracks to spread.

How often should I consider ultrasonic cleaning?

  • We recommend ultrasonic cleaning once a year or after 2,000 - 3,000 rounds, depending on how often you use your firearm. We also recommend getting your firearms cleaned before long periods of storage.
